band - Disgusted 2.5.07 interview w/Baron & Grimm
BP: What's up? Thanks for the interview.
B: What's up with you? Thanks for offering to interview us.
G: And thank you.
BP: Alright, if you would, please introduce yourself and
the rest of the band members.
B: Well I'm Baron, this is Grimm here with me and we are vocals and guitar, respectively.
There is Pyro on bass, Mamma on keys, and of course, CP on drums.
BP: Tell us how you guys got together and started the band.
B: Well, me and Grimm worked together previously on a death metal project named
Ampallang that never really went anywhere. We had good chemistry so we decided to get back together and work on a new project that we were the heads of.
G: Yeah, we had Ampallang going but like Baron said, it went nowhere due to the fact of our old vocalist had some issues that, I guess, needed to be worked out. So I kept going on my guitar and I finally got tired of not doing what I wanted to do. Thats when I called up Baron.
BP: Who came up with the name Disgusted?
G: Baron did.
BP: Why that name?
G: Well,because it fits - but I think Baron could tell you better on that one since he came up with it.
B: We had actually went through a few band names, but every name that we came up with seemed to be taken. So, I started an internet search for band names to see which ones had been taken. Finally, I decided to myself that I was disgusted with the whole search and it hit me, Disgusted.
BP: Let's talk about some of your influences. Name the top three musicians who have been influential in molding your playing style.
G: Dimebag Darrell for myself, that's where I get all of my guitar playing influence from, well mostly. And the other two would have to be Kenny Hickey and Kerry King.
B: Alice Cooper would definitely have to be my earliest influence, not just the vocals but the whole stage show aspect of his performance. While we are on the subject of stage show performances, Marilyn Manson would have to be another huge influence. And lastly, I would have to say that Glenn Danzig is another big influence.
BP: Ok, what about the music? If I've never heard your stuff, tell me what I would expect.
B: Oh man, that's a good one. Alot of the heavy metal scene has went to this nu metal and umm, you never really hear bands nowadays with that original headbanging heavy metal style and we really wanted to try and bring that back.
G: It's real simple, raw, in-your-face, grab you by the balls old school metal!
BP: Sweet! Ok, I know you're a fairly new band, but do you have any shows in the works, or other plans coming up?
G: We actually have a battle of the bands coming up on March 17th. We also have a CD in the works as we speak.
BP: You guys are working on some new tunes right?
B: Always!
G: Oh hell yeah. I always love working on new material so you can guarantee that we'll
always be writing new stuff.
BP: What sets you guys apart from any other metal band?
G: Well not to be a total prick, but we are not nu metal, enough said!
B: We as a band don't really play what everybody is wanting to listen to, we play what
we enjoy playing - the type of music that we enjoy listening to.
BP: What are the goals for the band in the upcoming year?
G: Are goals are to get our CD out, play some more shows and of course write new material. Baron, did I leave anything out?
B: Yeah, you forgot that we want to rock our fan's fucking balls off.
