"We don't intend to play for the masses, but we want to appeal to the like-minded people or the select few that actually understand what we do and love the music." -Brandon Reeder

BannedPromotions.com introduces the death metal band

Butchered, and their new track "Defiled Face". This actually

marks the world-premier of the band, as none of their music

has been heard on radio, internet, or any other media until

now. -Randy Mallett, BannedPromotions.com

BP: Butchered is a brand new metal band from Southeast Missouri. Since most haven't even heard you guys yet, tell us a little about the band... BR: We've all known each other about 10 years and have played together for about 7 or 8 years, but in the past year have decided to play death metal because we wanted to play something challenging, heavy, and fast. BP: All of you are very talented at what you do. How long have you guys been playing? RC: I've been playing guitar about 10 years. Bub: I've also been playing for about 10 years. BR: I've been playing drums for about 10 years.... Yes, this is a coincidence! BP: Wow, considering you guys are 20, 21 yrs old - that's impressive. I gotta say this, I've had your demo a few weeks now, and it's absolutely amazing. How long did the rehearsing and recording take? BR-We started writing music this past spring and rehearsed all the way to August, when we started recording. Me and Bub already had a few songs to bring to the table like "The Ghastly Bone Discovery", "Insides Jarred Out", and "Defiled Face" before we joined up with Richard. The recording took about 4 months all together. About one month of actual recording, and about three months of partying! BP: Well.... that sounds, ummm, productive. Haha... BP: You guys recorded the cd in a bedroom right? BR: Yes, we were poor, so Bub bought a 16 track digital recorder and we did the best we could with what we had. BP: Ha, hey the cd sounds pretty damn good for a bedroom recording. BP: This question is for each of you: What is your favorite track off the new cd, and why? Richard- "Defiled Face" - I love the way the vocals flow with the riffs and the chorus Bub- "Pitchfork Necrophilia" - the "hooky" riffs and sick lyrics. Brandon- "Pitchfork Necrophilia" - for the same reasons as Bub, when you listen to the song, it's like "Somebody get all these hooks out of me!" BP: Now that you have some material under your belt, will the band play any live shows in the near future? BR: Yes, definitely. We cannot wait to play live. BP: Tell us about some of your personal influences, and the reasons why you play this type of music... Richard- Cannibal Corpse, Pantera, Metallica. Bub- Cannibal Corpse, vocally influenced by: George "corpsegrinder" Fisher and Chris Barnes. Brandon- Cannibal Corpse, Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Dio. We play this type of music because it's the most extreme and challenging music we can play. BP: What are the band's short term goals? BR: Start playing gigs all we can - Get the cd out there and build a following - Try to progress in our musical skills. BP: Long term goals? BR: Put out more music, continue to play live, and hopefully get signed. BP: Your music is brutal, it's relentless, and unforgiving. How does the band plan to be successful, seeing that death metal isn't the most demanding type of music in our area? BR: We don't intend to play for the masses, but we want to appeal to the like-minded people or the select few that actually understand what we do and love the music. BP: As I said earlier, I've had the cd for a few weeks now, and have played the hell out of it. When will your songs be available to the public? BR: Hopefully within the next few months. BP: Thanks for the interview guys, and good luck.....I'm excited to see what the future brings for the band.
